Vizhinjam International Seaport is on track to achieve a million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) capacity in First year itself setting new records and standards for Indian Ports . Phase 1 of the port is designed to handle 1 million TEUs annually .
MSC
Vizhinjam International Seaport has been included in MSC's Jade Service, a major global shipping route, marking a significant milestone for the port. This inclusion positions Vizhinjam as a key hub for South Asian trade and logistics, specifically for handling large vessels and high volumes of containers.
Gateway Trade
Since its commercial launch in July 2024, Vizhinjam port has operated primarily as transshipment hub with direct EXIM operations expected to begin this September.
Automated Port Operations
India’s first semi-automated port equipped with remote-controlled quay cranes and an AI-powered vessel traffic management system, Vizhinjam will significantly reduce vessel turnaround times.
